A pharmacological prank

Posted in life in russia with tags , , on May 23, 2008 by Soo Ching

At 8.45am – where most of the group G and K students were sleeping and wasting time in the internet, our pharmacology teacher called:

Teacher: I’ll be in the pediatric hospital in 30 minutes, see you later.
Me: We have class now? But I thought our class is on Saturday?
Teacher: We’ll discuss bout it later.

After she hangs up the phone, I called my groupmates one by one while preparing myself. And these are their response:

-Shikin (hastening): Cikgu call ker? Class pukul berapa? Kenapa tiba tiba ada class? I thought class on Saturday?

-Hui Ting (shock): Teacher call? Why suddenly got class? You’re going out now? Call me when you’re downstairs k?

-Ivon (just woke up): helllllllo? Ha? Oooo… ok…
Me: Call Shou Xun and tell him bout this too k?
Ivon: Ooo…

-Hafeez (didn’t sleep the whole night): Eh? Kenapa tiba tiba pulak? I mana sempat nak prepare? You tahu kan I nak 30 minutes to prepare… I tak gi lah…

I went to Ian’s room to wake him up: hoicjooooooo….. Why suddenly got class? She called you? Haizz…
Cia Wei’s room: Seriously? Are you sure? Ok ok….

In 30 minutes’ means 9.15am, by the time I call them it’s already 8.55am. So I messaged teacher that we’ll start our class at 9.30am. Then teacher called back:

Teacher: My dear friend, where are you now?
Me: I’m in the hostel.
Teacher: Ok. I read your message and I agree with you. You can start your class at 9.30am. I’ll be waiting for you in the hall.
Me: Ok. Thanks teacher. See you later.

At the pediatric hospital at 9.47am- while we were looking for the “hall”, teacher appear with a group of 5th year students from group A. They are having clinical pharmacology cycle. The teacher looks very surprise to see us there. So she asks:

Teacher: What are you doing here? Are you having class in pediatric hospital?
Me: Yap, you called me just now.
Group G and K (most of them were pointing their finger towards me): Soo Ching told us that we have class now…
Me: …….
Teacher (grinning): Ok you come follow us.

And so we follow her until the part where the other guy teacher stop and shows us the bird on the tree.

Cia Wei: Teacher, do we have class today?
Teacher (laughing non stop): Sorry students, my mistake, you don’t have class today. Sorry.. you go home prepare for tomorrow’s class.
All of us: (“-.-)

They told me, next time if teacher call, don’t answer her call… coz it might be a prank call..
I guess she got confused between the senior’s and our class…
And that’s how we spend our Friday rainy morning in “pharmaco prank” class…

*Conclusion: When ever your teacher call, tell her which year and group you’re from before starting the conversation.

New Camera in town

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on May 21, 2008 by Soo Ching

Have you ever thought of getting a new camera? Well, try Sony’s latest invention – Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 touch screen 8MP digital camera with smile detection. I’m not promoting this camera, but this camera is too cute to oppose. My senior owned this camera. Last Sunday during the Nizhny games before the closing ceremony, my seniors and few of my friends along with some juniors was experimenting this unbelievable camera. This camera lock on to the target’s face and automatically triggers image capture when a smile is detected. It has 4 Gb of internal memory and highest resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels.

I wonder if they have any camera that detects cute guys. Whenever you’re in the crowd, you just need to take out your camera and start scanning, when the camera flashed, you’re in luck. But the possibility of the camera flashing here in Nizhny Novgorod seems to be less than 0.05%.

Nizhny games ‘08

Posted in life in russia with tags on May 20, 2008 by Soo Ching

Today is Tuesday and the day after that is Wednesday and then come Thursday and on and on and on and finally, the nightmare of 3rd year’s 2nd semester. Having 5 exams in a month is a really serious matter.

Nizhny games have been very entertaining. At least I got to enjoy myself before exam. I think I screwed my opening ceremony’s performance. I mixed up some of the dancing steps, but luckily no one notice it. I was quivering with excitement before going out to the “so called” stage. Well, it’s kind of awkward with the extremely short jeans. And then, the games begin. 1st we have futsal, volley and table tennis. I wonder why they called it table tennis. Is it because we play it on the table and both the net and the ball are smaller? And why is it called “ping pong” in Malay? It doesn’t produce sound like “ping” and “pong”. Well, what can we say? Patamushto eta yazik. The most tiring part is I was dragged by one of the committee to “observe” the players during lunch and dinner. My job is to make sure the kitchen give the correct amount of food for the players and make sure the players didn’t take extra plate due to limited amount of food. I can see one of them is really hungry until he travel from table to table to eat the bread and oranges. Well, I kind of pity the players though. After sweating the whole day, but all they get is “restricted” amount of chicken and rice. And on the 3rd day, it’s the closing ceremony. And this time, I’m troubled with the Chinese ribbon dance. We started practicing it 1 week before the Nizhny games. Luckily it’s short and simple. Well, everything ends up perfectly. The beloved NNSMA band ended the closing ceremony. And believe it or not, Shari and I went to the middle of the live band!!!… When I thought of it, I mean… what the heck am I doing!!!? Did I just??? OMG…

Anyway, the fun has ended and the nightmare has just started. EXAMS!!!!! I guess this missy Soo Ching here needs to pass through mountains and oceans to pass her exams since she’s an extremely slow learner.

p/s: Marsha, thanks for coming.

Mum

Mum,
Do you remember?
The night I was coughing non-stop,
The warm water was great,
The one you woke up in the midnight, just to make my cough better,
Even so mum,
When I was little,
The day at the mall, I was playing around,
I got lost and I cried,
But when I saw you in the crowd,
I was relieved…
I need you,
Despite the fact you’re the guardian craved in my heart,
After all this time, all I can say is
Thank you…
Forever and forever,
Stay happy,
Even when I become a woman,
Stay happy forever…
I love you mum…
