Study skills

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on October 14, 2008 by Soo Ching

Finally, my stomatology cycle end today… well… can’t really use the word “finally” coz it sounded like the cycle is hard or ‘really something’… I think it’s the foremost easiest cycle in 4th year… and the teachers are nice too… just the prank that are annoying…
And I got a new roommate recently… ermm… another new roommate… or… how should I put it… an exchange roommate. I really like the roommie before this, coz she is funny and crazy… 2×5 like me… but since she promised to stay with her friend since the beginning, I can’t stop her from moving rite??? As long as she is happy, I am happy… My current roommate is a very hard working girl… when I saw her studying, I recall back the time when I was in 1st year… am I really that hard working??? Nah…. From what I can remember is:
-I sleep
-I eat
-Play dota
-Watch movies
-Gossiping
-Online
-Crazy a bit here and there

Talking bout study… Here are some tips for healthy study habits.
The Ten Study Habits of Successful Students:-
1. Try not to do too much studying at one time.
If you try to do too much studying at one time, you will tire and your studying will not be very effective. – Esp if you’re all stress up.
2. Plan specific times for studying.
Study time depend on individual… some prefer to study during night time; some prefer to study during day time. Plan specific times that are easy for you to concentrate.
3. Try to study at the same times each day.
Studying at the same times each day establishes a routine that becomes a regular part of your life. Like breakfast, lunch and dinner.
4. Set specific goals for their study times.
With this you can stay focused and monitor your progress.
5. Start studying when planned.
Delay in start studying can lead to difficult in getting everything done when you need to.
6. Work on the hardest assignment first.
The most difficult assignment will require the most effort and time. So start with the most difficult assignment since this is when you have the most mental energy.
7. Review notes before beginning an assignment.
Notes may include information that will help you complete an assignment.
8. Tell friends not to find you during study times.
Your work might be interrupted and it is not that easy to get back to what you were doing.
9. Call another student when they have difficulty with an assignment.
2 heads are better than 1.
10. Review classwork over the weekend.
This will help you be ready to go on Monday morning when another class week begins.

These ten study habits can help you throughout your education. Make sure they are your study habits. But not mine… hehe…

Are you Naughty or nice
Your Result: Your Nice! all sugar, no spice!

You’re all about sweetness, sunshine, and smiles. We’ve never met anyone nicer than you. Actually, we wouldn’t be surprised to come across you sitting in a peaceful green meadow, surrounded by adorable baby animals eating out of your hand whilst your halo shines in the sun. Ah, we’re just taking the mickey. But you are awfully good. Certainly, you may have dipped your toe in the naughty pool once or twice, but you generally stay in the shallow end, leaving the deep waters to the leather-and- nude-magazine crowd. It’s all well and good to follow the straight and narrow, but it’s okay to walk on the wild side once in a while, too. Have a drink. Organise a practical joke. Go to a strip club. Trust us – as long as no one gets hurt, it’s fun to be bad!

Stomatology Pranks

Posted in life in russia with tags , on October 12, 2008 by Soo Ching

Last Tuesday was my 1st class of my stomatology cycle. Since its hari pertama, I don’t wanna be late for my 1st class. So, I woke up at 6.15am and jumped into the bath room. After I showered, as my daily routine, went to the last room, di hujung corridor and bangunkan my bro/my group mate. Then make myself some nice breakfast which in this case, tuna-corn-crabstick-mayo sandwich… watch some comedy (the big bang theory)… would like to advise you all not to watch this comedy coz it is really really stupid… its bout a bunch of geek and a pretty girl…

At 7.30am, my group mate from 3rd floor and I walked to the bus-stop… pastu, kat sana we waited for the bus for almost 30 minutes then baru dapat bus ke Pharmaco building… we sampai at around 8.27am… wondering why am I so sure about the time??? Its becoz my groupmate tanye I pukul berapa masa tu… masa tu memang glad coz dapat reach in time… there I jumpa my other 2 group mates… we waited and waited there until my bro came and told us that our class might be in Semashko hospital… He told us to wait there while he went to find out where our class is. We wasted our time beating each other’s high score in Mini game world (stupid game in the phone). Then around 9 something, bro called and told us that our class will be in Semashko hospital… Then all of us rushed to the bus stop which is about 100m away from the pharmaco building… and when we were about to reach the bus stop, the bus no40 came… apa lagi??? Kita pun lari mengejar tat bus… fortunately we managed to catch up with the bus… and off we go to Semashko… dekat Semashko, kita mencari Stomat department yang terletak agak jauh di hujung koridor tingkat 3 itu… kat sana kita continue menunggu… until pukul 10 lebih, Nina Evgena came and…. Jeng jeng jeng…. Our class is supposed to be in pharmaco building… she added that she told the dean to inform us about these changes… what else?? We pergi balik to that pharmaco building… and again, wait for the teacher to come…

I kinda agree with one of my group mate’s thought… is it us who are having this cycle or is it the dean office’s ppl??? Why inform the dean and not us??? And if I’m not mistaken, the entire teachers have the group leader’s phone number. And isn’t the dean office’s ppl supposed to inform us??? But how come none of us got the news??? Well, 1 fact about the dean office ppl is that they always ask other student who at that time was in the dean office to pass the news to us… why can’t they call us directly since they have our numbers???

After menunggu for like 20 minutes, my friend got fed up and went looking for the teacher… finally, after all her hard work looking for the teacher, she found her to be chit-chatting with the other teacher in the 1st floor… it was almost 11.30am… in the class, she delivered some lecture and left the room… she asked us to copy the rest of the printed lecture ourselves… apabila masa hampir menunjukkan pukul 1.30pm… kita pun bersiap untuk menghilangkan diri… And for the 2nd time, kita terpaksa pergi balik ke Semashko hospital kerana we have Public Health lecture at 3.00pm… Kat lecture ini… ahli kumpulan 431G semuanye letih dan mengantuk… dan ada juga yang tertidur…

Synopsis for this cerite: Hostel > Minina 20 > Semashko > Minina 20 > Semashko > Hostel… Shou Xun got the highest score in Mini game world…

P/S: got a new roomie today… well… i like the old one… but… like my friend say… Everything happen for a better change… hope its true…

Sarcacism and laughter.

Posted in life in russia with tags , , on October 5, 2008 by Soo Ching

Tomorrow will be the last day of my surgical diseases cycle. I have lots of fun during this cycle. Especially when “ketulan emas” took over our class last Thursday and Friday because Ledaev was on business trip Moscow. (Ketulan emas = Goldenberg). He is one of the most sarcastic teachers I’ve ever seen. For example, some of the jokes he did in the class….

G: Tell me, what obstruct the bowel?
Y: Foreign bodies.
G: what foreign bodies?
Y: Ermm…. What ar? Ermm… tumor…
G: What tumor??? U takes the tumor and eats??

G: You, come in front and draw the anastomoses.
*X walks in front the board.
X: Well, this one…Ermm… mumble mumble…then…mumble mumble…
*Scrib-scrib (X draw 2 lines on the board)
X: So…. mumble mumble….
G: What are you talking?? What I hear is just “Well, this one…Ermm… mumbles mumble…then…mumble mumble… scrib-scrib…. So…. mumble mumble….
(Believe it or not, he really imitated the way X talk and he really makes the scrib scrib sound)
*The whole class burst with laughter…

That ketulan emas really cheer up our day…

Talking bout laughter, we enjoyed our neurology cycle very much. The most unforgettable moment was when we broke Myasnikov heater and the “sunful” and “warmmy” day, everything started with;

Low temperature in the class room:
Since its damn cold, Y went and turns Myasnikov’s heater to the max.
The next thing we know is that he came into the class room and:
M: You broke my radiator.
We the confused students: What? Say again sir.
M: You broke my radiator.
Us: Oh… heater..
Z: No sir, we didn’t touch your heater sir.
M: No?
Z: Ya, no one touch it.
M: Hmmm… (He looks kinda down)… ok, let’s start our class(looking kinda angry)…
* While discussing, he keep touching the heater without us noticing it… Some of us who saw his behavior giggle silently…
The next day before we start our class, he warns us not to touch his heater.

M: Well, today is a very sunful day.
*We started to giggle…
I: It’s sunny day sir…
M: Oh… It’s a sunny and warmmy day…
*All of us laughed till muscle cramped…

Any how, they did try their best to teach us in English… I’m sure some of you who read this post might find it not funny… Well, what can I say??? YOU NEED TO BE THERE TO EXPERIENCE IT….
